This couple had always wanted to restore a midcentury modern
house, and when she saw the photos online, it was all over but the
signing.
This green renovation blends midcentury and new-century
Modern, preserving almost all of the original structure and layout
while dramatically updating the interiors. New life comes from energy
efficient lighting and equipment, updated details, and new finishes
throughout the house; while the best of the ‘60’s including floating
teak cabinets in the baths, dramatic 8’ tall patio sliding doors,
and beautiful teak, cedar and walnut remain.
Structural and mechanical
upgrades, insulation, and a new roof bring the house up to current
code and energy standards, while recycling the old house - which
had been sold as a teardown - conserved materials and saved a bit
of ‘60’s modern West Vancouver.
